About Plain Investing

Plain Investing started as a way to explain investing properly to a friend who wanted to get started but felt like every article assumed either total ignorance or existing expertise, with nothing connecting the two.

Instead of a pile of disconnected articles, Plain Investing is built as a path: start with what a stocks and shares ISA actually is, and by the end you understand diversification, asset allocation, and how to think about rebalancing a portfolio. Each guide assumes you have read what came before it in the path — though every guide also stands alone if you land on it directly from a search.

What this site is not

This is general education, not personalised financial advice, and it is not a substitute for a regulated financial adviser for anything genuinely complex or high-stakes. Investing involves risk, including the risk of losing money — nothing here should be read as a recommendation to buy any specific investment.
